I feel like I have been gone forever. I have missed you like crazy. Honestly, I couldn’t wait to sit down and tell you all about what we have been up to lately. I didn’t mean to go silent, but when you see the progress we made over the past week and a half, you will completely understand. Obviously with no kitchen, we have not been doing a lot of cooking, but we have been eating some home cooked meals thanks to the stocked freezer and toaster oven.
Welcome to our 1988 kitchen renovation. I loved this house from the first moment we walked into it. The only problem was this 80’s melamine kitchen. The blue and peach tiles were so unappetizing. Oh and that floor. It was so yucky that I almost did not want to cook in it.
While it was ugly, the worst part was that it was not functional. There was no counter near the stove which caused tons of spills as we tried to carry every ingredient from the cutting board to the stove. Most of the counter space was taken up by the microwave and toaster oven, so work space was limited.
Even before we moved in, we knew we needed to do a renovation. We spent months planning and a week and a half ago we finally started working. This is what it looks like today.
We are going with white and navy. As you can see, the cabinets are hung, there is just a ton of finishing work to do. The floor is almost completed.
Yesterday, Pierre installed the range hood and electrified it. Look at how nice the floors look with the white cabinets. It is getting exciting.
On the right side you can see the pantry and the built in refrigerator. This project has been a ton of work and we have a long way to go. It is just so exciting to see how good it looks already. I can’t wait to share more with all of you!
